Bungie’s ‘Destiny’ coming to the PlayStation 4 alongside PS3 version

Activision Publishing’s Eric Hirshberg took the stage during today’s PlayStation 2013 event to announce that the Bungie-developed Destiny will make its way to the PlayStation 4. Bungie’s Jason Jones also noted that the PS3 and PS4 versions of Destiny will be available simultaneously at the game’s launch, which still isn’t tied to a specific date after Bungie’s own event earlier this week.

Blizzard announces Diablo III on the PS3 and PS4

Former professional wrestler Chris Metzen of Blizzard entertainment announced today that Sony and Blizzard have entered a “strategic partnership to take over the world.”  While there’s no mention of Pinky and the Brain’s involvement so far, but at least we got a huge reveal, as the first order of business is the announcement of  Diablo III on the PlayStation 3 and  the PlayStation 4. Right now there’s a version running on the PS3, and it’s “amazing” according to Metzen

Activision lays off 30 people, expects fewer licensed games in 2013

Activision laid off 30 full-time employees, noting that this year it intended to launch fewer games based on licensed properties. Activision provided a statement to Joystiq: “In 2013, we expect to release fewer games based on license properties and as a result are realigning our structure to better reflect the market opportunities and our slate,” the publisher said. “Approximately, 30 full-time employees have been impacted globally, which represents approximately one half of one percent of Activision Blizzard’s employee population.” Activision’s lineup of licensed games in 2013 included The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct , Deadpool and the first three Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games , and there was something up with the James Bond games.

Activision: Don’t expect ‘Destiny’ in 2013

Despite being available for pre-order at major retailers, Bungie’s recently revealed Destiny isn’t going to launch in this calendar year. An Activision Blizzard press release sent out today noted: “Activision has not included [ Destiny 's] launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result.” Oh, and in case there’s any confusion about calendar ’13 versus fiscal year, Activision Blizzard is one of the few companies that has its fiscal year synched with the planet’s trip around the sun.
