Ubisoft wants better relationship with PC players

Ubisoft is working to smooth out years of open hostility against legitimate customers of its PC products. Speaking with MCV , Uplay Director Stephanie Perotti announced more third-party partners for the publisher’s digital distribution network, adding, “It shows our commitment to PC, and we want to improve our relationship with the PC community.” Ubisoft’s messaging on this better relationship hangs on larger retail offerings through Uplay and the removal of always-on DRM from its games . Not mentioned are the notorious delays of the publisher’s major games between console and PC launches

EA announces layoffs in LA, Montreal

EA has announced an unknown number of layoffs affecting its employees in Los Angeles, Montreal and “smaller locations” in an update from EA Labels president Frank Gibeau. “Thousands of our existing employees have been retrained and redeployed to work on the new platforms and initiatives.

Sony expects operating profit this year

Ahead of today’s expected PlayStation console reveal, Sony announced it’s forecasting an operating profit by the end of its fiscal year next month. Reuters reports the company plans to do this by selling six percent of its shares in M3 Inc, a marketing company, which will result in a ¥ 115 billion ($1.23 billion) operating profit.

Sony is giving away free PSN credit to ‘loyal’ customers

Sony is sending $10 vouchers for free PlayStation Network credit to “loyal” customers of the service, although it’s not clear what constitutes that loyalty exactly. Multiple PSN users from North America, both on Twitter and the NeoGAF forum , are reporting they received messages this morning with $10 credit enclosed. We’ve also received a tip confirming the credit being added to a user’s PSN account

With Sony taking care to refresh our memories on all its PlayStation hardware over the last few days , it has finally brought it all home with what really matters: Games. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and the power of customization
