Small-time publisher O-Games announced its take on the world’s oldest sport, John Daly’s ProStroke Golf, in May to little fanfare. However, MCVUK reports that the title’s developer, Gusto Games, recently made a decision which should garner a bit of attention: The PS3 version of the game will now be compatible with the PlayStation Move.

The game, which is due out October 1, will be demoed for the first time on the show floor at E3 2010, where the titular professional golfer John Daly will be on-hand to show how one gets their virtual putt on — a subject we probably don’t need too much additional instruction in, thanks. We’ll try to get some time in with the game once we make our way to E3 in a couple short weeks.

Four user videos up on Gametrailers show what looks like an avatar-based golf game for the Xbox 360.

From the footage it looks like the project is still under development. But with Xbox Live releasing Joy Ride – an avatar-based racing game – it’s not out of the realm of possibility they’d do something like this, too.

The big question will be if this is a fun casual game without motion control, which is more than half the fun in something like Wii Sports.

We’ve emailed a Microsoft PR rep to see if they want to comment or swat this rumor. If we hear anything we’ll let you know.

Fresh-faced late night host (and Engadget superfriend) Jimmy Fallon recently trounced golf superstar Tiger Woods in a Times Square showdown round of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. Just as aging classic rockers are incapable of grasping the musical mechanics of Rock Band, it seems Mr. Woods was unable to translate his real-life adroitness to the virtual greens — Fallon bested him by “a large margin,” according to MTV Multiplayer.

Try not to take it too hard, Woodsy. We’re sure you could beat him at Don’t Laugh During Every Freaking Sketch During Your Six-Year Stint on Saturday Night Live 2010.

It’s tough to follow the Jesus Shot, EA’s viral video for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 and tongue-in-cheek reference to a glitch found in Tiger Woods 08. But, we must say, EA has managed to strike rich, comedic gold again, as the video after the break for Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 featuring Rocco Mediate is pretty damn hilarious. Like, grandpa-with-an-open-fly hilarious.

Tomy takes us through some of the multifarious ways you can dress up your adorable anime golfers in the upcoming Pangya: Fantasy Golf for the PlayStation Portable.

It might be some sort of horrible disease I contracted while working security at local anime conventions many years ago, but for some reason I enjoy the game of golf so much better when I can dress up my golfer in all sorts of different outfits. They don’t even have to be whacky outfits, as long as I have some control over how my golfer looks, and can earn new items of clothing through playing. Perhaps it has something to do with my utter incompetence at playing the actual sport…this way I feel I have some measure of control over an activity that otherwise involves me wildly swinging a stick about and hoping to avoid lawsuits.

A fresh round of adorable fantasy golf is hitting Sony’s handheld this summer, as Tomy announces a North American release for Pangya: Fantasy Golf for the PlayStation Portable.

Based on the massively multiplayer golfing game Pangya, developer Ntreev brings the cutesy golf acton to the small screen, following relatively successful outings on the Nintendo Wii as Super Swing Golf 1 & 2. The game features the nine fantasy golf courses of Pangya Island, 18 adorable little golfers, and more customization options than you can shake a 9-iron at. Aside from golf, one of the main draws of Pangya is tricking out your characters in all sorts of freaky accessories, and the PSP version boasts thousands of unlockable accessories, outfits, and pieces of equipment to help build the strange little golfer lurking inside all of us.

The game also features several single player modes, from story mode to tournaments, along with single and team multiplayer tournaments for up to 8 players.

As a fan of Sony’s Hot Shots Golf PSP series, I eagerly welcome any game that allows me to play dress up with anime golfers.

In a surprise to only dead people, EA has announced a new installment in the Tiger Woods franchise, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. Releasing for every console under the sun (sans the DS), Tiger Woods 10 will not only be the first title in the series to feature the number 10, but also the first to include the U.S. Open, a USGA championship, and the USGA’s Rules of Golf. EA isn’t stopping there with the firsts, either, as the game will also include real-time weather, allowing the game’s weather to match “that of the current weather conditions.” Does that mean we won’t be able to play during a lightning storm?

This year’s Tiger Woods will also feature a “broadcast style presentation,” which EA reveals includes “Instantaneous updates” from new commenting duo Scott Van Pelt and Kelly Tilghman, from ESPN and The Golf Channel, respectively. Oh, and in case you had forgotten, the Wii version will use MotionPlus.

The Board of Directors at Midway Games has appointed Matt Booty as the new chairman of the board. Consequently, Booty currently plays the roles of president, CEO and chairman of a company barely hanging on to this mortal coil.

Booty has been collecting new titles as the publisher has been sinking deeper and deeper into financial ruin — now might be the time for Midway to stop adding job honorifics to the man and get him to fix the company.
