Tales of Graces and a new, currently unnamed Tales of title are on the way to PlayStation 3, according to info leaked from Japanese mag Jump (translated by Andriasang). Tales of Graces F will be the second entry in Namco Bandai’s popular RPG series to ditch platform exclusivity before undergoing enhancement for PS3. The formerly Wii-exclusive title will get a facelift and some added features before it debuts in Japan this winter (possibly to the sound of snapping game discs).

Namco has also revealed plans to release Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 3 on PSP sometime in 2011. We’ll let you know as soon as the publisher shares its plans for North America and Europe.

Update: Namco currently has no plans to release “Tales of Graces (PS3)” in North America.

Call it the new Xenosaga. Just as the Xenogears team left Square to create games in a suspiciously similar world for Namco, some of the tri-Ace staffers who made Radiata Stories are working on … Radiant Historia for DS, over at Atlus. Along with original staff like artist Hiroshi Konishi, Atlus’s own developers are also involved, including director Mitsuru Hirata, a veteran of the Shin Megami Tensei series.

With only a Famitsu leak to go on, all we know about the game itself is that it involves time travel in some manner. If you want to find out more by playing the game, you’ll have to time travel to November 4. And learn Japanese, we guess.

The early Sega Genesis roguelike Fatal Labyrinth was released on PC download services last week, but Sega doesn’t appear to be done re-releasing it yet. The ESRB listing for the game shows, in addition to its existing PC and Wii (Virtual Console) releases, plans for Mac, PS3, and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

Fatal Labyrinth is actually already available on PS3 and Xbox, as part of Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, but a separate ESRB listing for those platforms suggests a standalone downloadable release, like those given to games like Gunstar Heroes, Sonic & Knuckles, and Phantasy Star II. Good news for those of you who don’t want to spend around twenty dollars for the fantastic deal that is the Ultimate Genesis Collection.

We suppose the Sims franchise has a few elements in common with the role-playing genre -- after all, it's about character improvement and, more often than not, all of the characters are startlingly, impossibly attractive. Still, it seems Maxis is getting a helping hand on Darkspore development from a more experienced RPG developer -- according to Gamespot , the studio's Comic-Con panel revealed that fellow EA studio BioWare is helping out on the project. The capacity of this help is still unknown, but based on BioWare's strong roots in the genre, we strongly doubt they've been brought in to offer backrubs to weary programmers.

We suppose the Sims franchise has a few elements in common with the role-playing genre — after all, it’s about character improvement and, more often than not, all of the characters are startlingly, impossibly attractive. Still, it seems Maxis is getting a helping hand on Darkspore development from a more experienced RPG developer — according to Gamespot, the studio’s Comic-Con panel revealed that fellow EA studio BioWare is helping out on the project.

The capacity of this help is still unknown, but based on BioWare’s strong roots in the genre, we strongly doubt they’ve been brought in to offer backrubs to weary programmers. We’ve contacted EA to find out more about this partnership, and to find out whether we can expect Darkspore to contain any romance sub-plots leading to tastefully directed sex scenes.

I was looking forward to the discussion that the previous debate would spawn, and it didn’t disappoint! Fallout is one of those series that has a huge amount of new and old fans, and witnessing them clash in the comments made tallying the votes even more exciting. Here are the results:

Fallout 2 (68 votes) — Winner!

Fallout 3 (55 votes)

Fallout (22 votes)

Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel (2 votes)

Just like recent debates with Golden Sun and Mass Effect, we’ve got another debate this week that’s between a “series” of just two games. Before there was Mass Effect, BioWare was proving their worth with Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. BioWare continually proves their relevance each generation, and the winner of this debate will most likely move on to do battle in an even grander BioWare bracket.

Which of the two K.O.T.O.R. games is better, and why? What sets your pick apart from the other game in the series? Sell me on the idea! Get me stoked to see it compete in the RPG tournament! Give it some serious thought, share your reasoning with all of us, and then check back next week to see how your game did!

Bonus Question: What’s one thing you didn’t like about the game you voted for?

NIS America held a press event last night during which it announced three new wacky, niche, NIS-style games for North America. Ar Tonelico Qoga: Knell of Ar Ciel, the latest in Gust’s RPG incomprehensibly-named series, will be released on PS3 in spring 2011. It features a completely new storyline and setting, so if you’re up for a JRPG, you won’t have to do your Ar Tonelico homework first. Warning: “edgy and kinky special moves.”

The other two games are both for PSP. Cladun: This Is an RPG, officially the game with the most wonderful subtitle ever, is a PSN-exclusive localization of Classic Dungeon, a dungeon crawler with a similar intentionally retro-style presentation (and an extraordinarily similar logo) to 3D Dot Game Heroes. ZHP: Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman, which just immediately snatched away the “wonderful subtitle” prize we awarded to Cladun, is a localized release of Absolute Hero Modding Project, a superhero-themed, over-the-top strategy RPG. It’ll be out this fall on both PSN and UMD. See trailers for Cladun and ZHP after the break.

Cladun: This is an RPG — known as Classic Dungeon in Japan — is a quirky little hack and slash RPG made by the minds responsible for Disgaea. Think Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past mixed with the insane humor that NIS is pretty well known for.

Cladun has two very important things going for it that really sets it apart from the other hack and slash games. First, you’ll have complete freedom to make the main character look like whatever you want. Prinny, Mr. Destructoid, a shark, Dale North — the possibilities are limited to your imagination. You can make up to 64 custom designed characters that can be shared with anyone online.

The final boss of the game is also customizable so you can make someone like Chad Concelmo to beat the snot out of. The cool thing about the final boss is that he scales to your strength the first time you encounter him. After which, he will become stronger and stronger than you every time you fight him again.

The second key point of Claudin is that all of the dungeons are always randomly generated and have 99 levels to explore. Thankfully, you don’t have to complete all 99 levels and can leave whenever you want. It may be fun to try to complete all 99 levels for one dungeon with three other friends. You know, for bragging rights.

I played through the first ten-minutes of Claudin and instantly fell in love with this game. The retro feel with NIS’s deranged humor had me smiling and laughing out loud before I even killed my first monster. Be sure to check out the trailer to get a real sense of what to expect.

Claudin: This is an RPG will be out as a downloadable only title for the PSP later this Fall.

Despite “generally favorable reviews,” there were quite a few people out there who had some serious problems with Fable 2. And to hear Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux talk at the Develop Conference in Brighton today, he’s one of them.

Molyneux’s hour long on-stage presentation of Fable 3 included a veritable smorgasbord of self-deprecating remarks about the problems in the first two Fable games that would be fixed or mitigated in the threequel. For instance, Molyneux lambasted his studio for throwing way too many unnecessary features into Fable 2, even citing a study showing that most people didn’t use more than 60% of the available features. Even when a feature was used, Molyneux said, it was often only used once and didn’t factor into the larger game enough. For example, “most people did get married, but it didn’t mean anything, it was just an excuse to have sex,” he said. At one point Molyneux likened Fable 2 to “designing a car with 300 buttons on dashboard when you only need a steering wheel.”
