The Witcher series passes five million copies sold

It’s been a big week for The Witcher with the announcement of the final game in the Geralt trilogy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt , and the prior two games going on sale for half price until February 8 on Steam and GOG.com . To cap it all off, it’s been revealed that the series has surpassed the five-million-copies-sold milestone. “This is great news, especially since the 2012 debuted console debut on the Xbox 360 contributed largely to this result, receiving great feedback from gamers and critics,” said CD PROJEKT SA CEO Adam Kiciński.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is 30x bigger than The Witcher 2

Last night, we got a sliver of information about The Witcher 3 by way of a Game Informer cover. While that issue is available digitally and has a 14-page cover story on the new role-playing game, non-subscribers can also get a sense of what’s to come thanks to an official announcement from CD Projekt RED. Releasing in 2014 “simultaneously on all high-end platforms,” The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is said to be the studio’s final Witcher game.

The Witcher 2 conjures 1.7 million in sales, coming to Mac and Japan

While the focus of CD Projekt Red’s summer conference was its new Cyberpunk RPG , the company still doled out a few tidbits about its best-known title, The Witcher 2 . Specifically, the game has moved 1.7 million copies across the PC and Xbox 360 platforms. The company hopes to sell a few more copies by bringing the Xbox version to Japan.
